Life We Got

Ok, so I really should be updating my professional blog, travel blog AND photography blog with the zillion and one idea posts on my list – but I find myself procrastinating AGAIN and watching inspiring video links from Facebook instead!  It started with the gorgeous Amy Krouse Rosenthal and her amazing The Beckoning of Lovely (5 part video) (see previous post) and progressed to this wonderful video below.  I am missing being in the classroom with students so much and this is why!

  2. Hi Chrissy,

I love this video! It’s so catchy and is so much like the Classroom Bridges wiki (http://classroombridges.wikispaces.com/) that I was trying to set up last year to connect classes in 6 continents. The idea is brilliant and I love the fact that they were able to connect so many classes around the world. I’d love to chat to you more about how I can get a project like Classroom Bridges off the ground as I was so frustrated last year. Even though I had 6 other classes signed up to collaborate on the wiki, only one really manage to commit to the project. I really believe in Will Richardson’s idea of global collaboration, and in building learning communities as Jeff writes about in his book. I’m struggling in finding others who are committed in putting in the necessary time to get a project like this off the ground. I’m wondering whether I need to whittle it down to 1-3 classes who can make a true commitment but I’m still excited about connecting the continents like they do in this video. I know I’m reaching for the stars but I’d love to find some success. I hope we can chat soon and come up with a plan to make it happen.

    • Hi Cheryl
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I really enjoyed this video too! As you’ve already experienced, it can be difficult to get a project off the ground and it is frustrating when no one seems willing to commit the time and energy. The only words of wisdom that I can offer is work with the willing, keep looking for like-minded people, leave comments on blogs & keep asking if people are interested – keep your projects small and simple to begin with and as you build relationships you will be able to grow the projects.
