Today I’ve been playing around with Cooliris Express trying to create a 3-D photo wall to embed in my blog. The cool thing about this photowall is that it will update as pictures are added to my flickr photostream. For the photowall below, I’m using the 366 2012 set to pull photos for the Cooliris Express. I think for another wall, I will use “cooliris” as a tag for the photos I want to be picked up by the feed.

It is possible to pull content, not only from flickr, but from picassa, facebook, YouTube and Media RSS. You can customize a few things in your 3-D photo wall such as colour, how many rows of photos (1-5) and there’s a choice of 6 themes for your photo wall.

It’s relatively simple to set up (log into Cooliris Express using your facebook or google account) and you can save your wall. Filtering is easy too as you can name a particular set or tag of photos you want displayed on your blog. As I write this, I’m just wondering if you can embed the 3-D wall in the sidebar – I guess you can but it would be pretty small, and I kinda like the flickr app I already have in my sidebar.

Here’s a few ideas swirling around in my head after a quick skype conversation with the very talented Rob (in Singapore!):

Global project for 2011/12 – classrooms around the world

Different projects to suit different needs / time available

Rather than a photo a day from everyone – a photo a week?

I haven’t been this excited about a project in a while …..

So how about you? Would you like to join in? Do you have some ideas to add? I’d love to hear from you!!

The idea is simple. Take one photograph a day for the next 365 days.

I will be using my Nikon D40x and new Kodak Zi8 or whatever else I can lay my hands on. All photos will be uploaded to my Flickr 2010 365 set and then embeded in this blog. I began the 2009 365 Flickr Challenge but did not get past day 263. My photography definitely improved and this time my goal is to complete the whole 365 photo a day challenge.

January 1, 2010- December 2010.

Last year I joined the Flickr group 2009/365photos It was started in 2008 and has rolled over each year ever since. Thanks to D’Arcy Norman and Alan Levine for getting this one started and keeping it going! It will be renamed to 2010/365photos for the 2010 photo challenge.

There’s also a Flickr group for those in Education and/or Technology, EdTech 365/2010.

For all those in Education and/or Technology who are looking for a 365 group. Please tag all your images ‘edtech365/2010′ and please consider using Creative Commons licensing so that we may all benefit from these images.

Want to participate or have your own challenge? Perhaps 365 photos is too much of a commitment. How about a 52 Challenge? It’s only one photo a week.
Here are some great hints and tips for doing so:
